Adam Ant is my pop hero. I think it’s fair to say he’s gone through something of a rough patch in the past few years and my heart goes out to him and his family.
All the same, he is still, at the age of 56, the most original, colourful and damned entertaining pop star we have left. These gigs (with more to be announced) promise material from 1976 to date. The last time I saw him (all of 15 years ago, in support of his last album, Wonderful), he played for almost three hours, playing all the hits and ending with an encore set of ancient b-sides. It was, for all life-long devotees, breathtaking. I refuse to believe these gigs will be any different.
I hope to make it over for at least one. Here’s hoping. All the best, Adam. We love you.
